FIRST OF ITS KIND
Unique Multiples sets itself apart because it is the only Contemporary Art platform that offers a Unique, Curated selection of international artists EDITIONS that are authenticated using blockchain technology.
What is a Blockchain?
A blockchain acts as a public database on which transactions are permanently recorded and encrypted. It is thus highly secure: when a transaction occurs, instead of being recorded on a single, centralised ledger, it instantly appears on a vast network of computers. Although public, it can only be used with a specific “key.” When accessed, an immutable trail is left behind. Blockchain technology eliminates the need for a trusted third party to verify that a transaction has taken place. Transactions are validated by miners—specific nodes in the blockchain network—which use a programmed consensus to verify, authorize, validate, and record transactions.
HOW DOES A BLOCKCHAIN WORK?
A digital transaction is made. This transaction is bundled with other transactions carried out in the last 10 minutes. These form a cryptographically generated block.
The block is sent out to the entire network. Miners try to decrypt the block and validate transactions.
The first one to decrypt the block receives an award (bitcoin).
The validated block is time stamped and added to a chain in a linear chronological order.
It is continually updated so its the same throughout the network.
Each member can see who owns what at any time.
